DESRIPTION/STORY BEHIND THE WORK:

An identity piece for a historical and present reflection on the artists cultural identity. It depicts 9 rivers and three tribes clan totems aswell as the cultural practices around fire and cool burning befor and after colonisation the cultural practices that are kept vibrant threw communities that she most associates to herself and have accepted her. Each clan has apart of the river system or river to care for and that cares for them. The white dots represent the paths set by her ancestors and the different skin colours represent the ochres used by her three tribes in cultural practices during ceremonies such as marriage and more. The green and yellow dots represent the birthing eucalyptus trees and the smaller fluoro orange and fluoro green dots represents the Black boy grass trees and their purposes and regrowth with in a cultural contexts. The brown tracks represents the more common animal that was used as a clan skin to the area and other tracks represents the people's connection to their custodial land and marriage traditions...
